Brickstone Resident Harriet Kitzman a Finalist for RBJ Health Care Achievement Award
Dr. Harriet Kitzman Guest Appearance on News10NBC’s Rochester in Focus
Dr. Harriet Kitzman, R.N., and senior associate dean for research at the University of Rochester Medical Center School of Nursing, was recently announced as a finalist for a Rochester Business Journal Health Care Achievement Award. The awards will be given at a ceremony on Tuesday, March 24.
The purpose of these awards is to recognize excellence, promote innovation, and honor the efforts of organizations and individuals making a significant impact on the quality of health care in our area. The 24 honorees, selected in eight categories, will be profiled in a special supplement published in the March 20 issue of the RBJ. Dr. Kitzman is one of three finalists in the Nursing category of the event.
A resident at Brickstone by St. John’s, Dr. Kitzman is an authority on nurse home visitation for low income mothers and their infants. She was a leader in the early nurse practitioner movement, and led the development of the first graduate nurse practitioner program at the University of Rochester in 1971.
In 2014, Dr. Kitzman was a guest on News10WHEC, giving advice on aging well and choices that have allowed her to embrace living as recent guest on “Rochester In Focus.”
The event will take place at the Hyatt Regency Rochester, with a VIP reception starting at 11:15 and the awards luncheon starting at noon. Tickets for the event are $60 per person, $75 to attend VIP reception.
