Brighton Town Supervisor Visits Brickstone
Brighton Town Supervisor Bill Moehle visited Brickstone by St. John’s on Friday, October 2 to talk with residents during “Paul’s Chats.”
Paul’s Chats are held every Friday over coffee for St. John’s Vice President of Senior Housing Paul Bartlett to update residents on what is going on throughout St. John’s and within the Brickstone community and for residents to express comments, concerns, and ideas.
Today, Moehle attended as a guest speaker to cover a variety of topics that pertain to the Brighton community where Brickstone by St. John’s is located.
Among many things, Moehle discussed a major issue throughout the whole Rochester community: poverty. “We cannot afford not to think about the problem of poverty,” says Moehle. “Don’t be fooled, it is not just a City problem.”
Moehle also discussed projects like Brighton Twelve Corners development, waste water, and the impact the University of Rochester is having on Brighton as it continues to expand. “The University is going to be a big part of our future.”
He was open and honest when discussing the possibility of Whole Foods opening up off of Monroe Avenue, cautioning that a decision has not been made. “I have to look at all the data. I have to listen to all of you… Before a decision is made there will be intense scrutiny. We will see how it fits in Brighton’s plan for the future.”
Residents listened as Moehle praised the wonderful education that Brighton has to offer and told a little known fact that there are five different school districts that serve the town of Brighton with six different zip codes. Moehle noted that the shape and various areas of the town pose a challenge to make sure people know they are in Brighton.
