Meadows Residents Highlighted in Rochester Business Journal
The April 7 edition of the Rochester Business Journal featured St. John’s Meadows residents John and Angie Sinacore in an article titled “Staying Active, Having a Purpose Serves Retirees Well. “The couple–who have lived at St. John’s Meadows since 2014–spent over two decades volunteering for the United States Coast Guard Auxillary.
An exerpt from the article:
“You really need to think about retiring to something, not so much as about retiring from something,” says Angie. “As much as we loved the work we were doing, we also loved to play golf, and we loved to swim, and we had a boat. Work was beginning to interfere with play.”
At that time, the couple was living in Kendall, Orleans County, along the shore of Lake Ontario. With their love for the water still at its peak, the retired couple trained to join the U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary. They leared rescue techniques and were called upon many times to use their own boat to help those at risk at sea. The pair volunteered for 21 years.
“We realized that retirement really comes in two sections,” Angie says, noting how much fun she and John had between the time they left their jobs and moved nearly three years ago to St. John’s Meadows, where they have made many new friends. “It certainly is worth planning for.”
