Celebrating Veterans Day at St. John’s

As it does throughout communities all across the country, Veterans Day has always held a special place in the hearts of residents and staff members at St. John’s. Each November, special celebrations honor the men and women living at St. John’s communities who served in the United States Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard.

In the Wintergarden, a special luncheon honored Veterans who live and work at St. John’s Meadows and Brickstone by St. John’s. The Meadowlarks– a choir made up of St. John’s Meadows residents fronted by spiritual life partner and U.S. Navy Veteran Patrick Crumity– led the room in the singing of patriotic songs, including a medley honoring each branch of the armed forces.

At St. John’s Home, the annual Veterans Day ceremony and luncheon brought together those who served their country. The special event held in the community center paid tribute to residents who served their country with bravery and distinction. Assistant Director of Nursing Bob Wesley— himself a Navy Veteran– remembered the thousands of American prisoners of war and others missing in action with a powerful reading.
