Nurse Educator Monica Epps is 2024 Health Care Hero
St. John’s Home Nurse Educator Monica Epps was named to the 2024 list of Rochester Business Journal Health Care Heroes. Epps was announced as a winner earlier this year and was officially awarded the honor at a breakfast ceremony on February 29.
Monica was nominated for the award by the St. John’s clinical team, including director of nursing Julie Wood. Wood says that Epps, through her work at St. John’s Home “conveys to the staff that they are of value and what they do matters to our residents.”
Epps was featured in the March 1 issue of the RBJ within the Health Care Heroes 2024 special section as an award winner in the “Nurse” category. She leads the orientation program for new nursing employees, teaches the certified nursing assistant (CNA) and feeding assistant courses, conducts nursing teaching days and mentors emerging nurse leaders. “Her dedication to her job and her career in combination with her professionalism, empathy, and her positive non-judgmental attitude is what makes her extraordinary,” said St. John’s Medical Director Dr. Rena Pine about Epps.
“My passion is to care for those who are in need and also how to work as a team,” says Epps of her work that was deemed worthy for this prestigious award. “With the many staffing challenges that we see on a daily basis, it is important to work effectively as a team. Effective teams will yield better staff and better patient outcomes.”
Congratulations to Monica Epps, RN for this special recognition from the Rochester, New York clinical community!
