Runyon Cites St. John’s Continuum of Care in Recent RBJ Article
“There is an opportunity for us to continue with our continuum of care,” said Charlie Runyon, president and CEO of St. John’s, in a recent Rochester Business Journal article published on July 7, 2023. “But I also think the definition has been broadened to finding partners and people who have similar missions and values and provide pieces of the continuum that we don’t.”
“The continuum of care definition I think has really started to change post-pandemic,” said Charlie Runyon.
Runyon discussed the importance of partnerships for St. John’s continuum of care with Caurie Putnam of the Rochester Business Journal in a piece specifically about building supports in the community for seniors to age across a continuum of care. He cited partnership programs with Lifespan of Greater Rochester, UR Medicine Geriatrics Group, and Nazareth University provide gerontology classes and programs that benefit volunteers, students, and residents across St. John’s system of care.
He also noted that many St. John’s Meadows and Brickstone by St. John’s residents choose St. John’s Home for rehabilitation services, as well as to live at St. John’s Home later in life, continuing to be part of the St. John’s family.
Additionally, Runyon told Putnam about St. John’s unique online Dementia Resource Center. The online center, which gets about 150 monthly viewers, provides resources and articles for caregivers.
St. John’s will also open a physical resource center in 2024 to support caregivers and people living with dementia. The center will be located at St. John’s Home and will offer a wide range of services like care coordination services through Lifespan, dementia-specific training and informational workshops, and more.
