St. John’s Fundraiser Captures Warmth of Holiday Season
Illumination of Love—the courtyard lighting event that raises funds each year for St. John’s residents—was featured in the January 12 issue of the Rochester Business Journal. The RBJ said this annual tradition celebrates “the warmth of the holiday season while also raising funds for St. John’s Foundation.”
Thanks to the contributions of generous donors, the 2023 event raised $11,000 to benefit St. John’s Home residents with limited financial means. The money raised this year funded adaptive clothing, orthopedic shoes, and other necessary items, as well as beauty and barber services that help residents maintain an active and engaged lifestyle.
For nearly three decades, Illumination of Love has served as the official kickoff to the holiday season at St. John’s Home. Resident Robert Lane did the honors of flipping the switch that filled the St. John’s Home courtyard with the glow of several hundred holiday lights. Following the lighting, residents joined family members and other friends of St. John’s in the community center for holiday treats, music, and conversation.
The 30th annual Illumination of Love event will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024 as part of St. john’s year-long celebration of its 125th anniversary.
