St. John’s Partners with The Catholic Courier to Observe Anniversaries

As part of St. John’s year-long observance of it’s 125th anniversary, it is partnering with community organizations that are also celebrating milestone birthdays in 2024. The Catholic Courier, founded in 1889, has been a publication helping Catholics in the Diocese of Rochester to understand important issues and events from the perspective of faith for 135 years. In October, the two organizations will come together to celebrate their respective anniversaries with a special art exhibit on display at the Terry Art Gallery at St. John’s Home, 150 Highland Avenue.

According to an article in the September issue of The Catholic Courier, “high-quality photojournalism has been a hallmark of the publication in recent decades so the Rochester Catholic Press Association will mark the publication’s 135th anniversary with an art-gallery-style exhibit of photos from the archives.” The exhibit is entitled “Through the Lens of Faith” and will highlight award-winning photographs that mix history, faith, and art.

The Terry Art Gallery is free and open to the public every day of the year during visiting hours at St. John’s Home. The exhibit will run from October 1-31, 2024. Viewers may tour the exhibit during the following visiting hours: 8 a.m. until 7:45 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

“We are honored to partner with The Catholic Courier to bring this important exhibit to our residents, staff, and the greater community,” says Jennifer Lesinski, St. John’s Vice President of Marketing. “Rochester has a long history of partnerships between non-profit organizations, which has made it the charitable community it is today.”

The Terry Art Gallery has been fortunate to feature other local notable artists and groups over the years, such as Sheridan Vincent, Irondequoit Art Club, Pittsford Art Group, and many more. It continues to be a beloved amenity at St. John’s Home and is strategically located near the Gift Shop and the Ice Cream Shop, which are visited by many residents and guests daily.
