LifeBio Graduates New Class at St. John’s
For 16 years St. John’s has had a strong partnership with LifeBio, a storytelling company founded on the philosophy that “everyone’s story matters.”
At St. John’s Meadows, six residents participated in an 8-week course structured around group discussion and storytelling. Each resident became a biographer of his/her own life and at the end of the course each person presented a life story to fellow residents and loved ones. This year’s participants included Donna Gates, Tom Upson, Duane and Dee Rasmussen, and Jeanne and Pat Corcoran.
As St. John’s Meadows Social Recreation Manager Kim Bidleman explains, “we would sit down in a group and answer the questions from the [LifeBio] book, and what one person might say would trigger a memory for another person.”
At this year’s reception, the participants presented their biographies with photos, poster boards and other displays, memorabilia, and more.
St. John’s Meadows resident and participant Pat Corcoran says, “it was nice to look back at what got me to this point (in life) and share with all of you.”
More photos from the reception can be seen here.
